The Most Expensive GIF of All Time' Is Being Sold for $5,800 by Megan Garber

The Most Expensive GIF of All Time' Is Being Sold for $5,800, written by Megan Garber was a very interesting article to read. Many individuals purchase art because they want it as a decorative piece. Others purchase art because they enjoy the meaning behind the piece or can relate to the art work themselves. I found it astonishing that Michael Green believes we should destroy the values of the tradition of modern art. I agree technology is growing rapidly each day and art can be made digitally but modern art will always be a need for people because it allows individuals to show who they are as a person. For example, I am allowed to express in my room, kitchen, living room, and bathroom who I am and what I enjoy throughout the art pieces that I own. I think it will be very challenging for Green to sell the digital image of Koons' iconic Balloon Dog for $5,800 but not impossible. Today, NFTs tokens help represent real world items like artwork. The most expensive NFT was sold for 91.8 million. However, while some individuals purchase NFTs to collect digital art others do it for the value it is given through various perks. NFTs can give people access to communities with virtual and IRL meetups, access to games, or even real life perks. Thus, if Michael Green wants to be able to sell his GIF the question he should be asking himself is what kind of value does it give consumers other than just a GIF file.
